Default Drive Cycle? to shut off lights after codes cleared

Hi,
I feel like I'm running into a wall here. I just had 2 new O2 sensors, all new front & back breaks and sensors replaced. My OBD2 shows that i've cleared the codes. Tonight I hit the 50 mile mark after clearing the codes and the lights are still on. I've googled, searched other BMW forums, checked my Bentley Manual and have yet to come up with a concise "drive cycle" for my 96 BMW 318ti that will shut the lights off

I am really trying to get these lights off so that I can take it for an inspection. Any help with the appropriate drive cycle will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Jen

Did you disconnect battery to shut the light off?

no, i saw that mentioned in several places.......but apparently the lights should go off automatically after the drive cycle.

I think i've found the BMW "drive cycle" here

That's a great find! I added it to our Files repository.

When I was going through this I would reset the light each time then drive that cycle to see what code came back on, if any. You probably took care of a couple of the codes but still have some faulting.

They may go off on their own, but if you're starting with multiple codes I'd reset and see what comes back. FYI, I'd reset and drive about 50 miles or so with light off, then the light would pop on and I'd try a fix and start process all over again.

You can read problem codes before the light comes on too, they show up in "pending" for a while before it triggers light.

Interesting, I can test this Jen, as I just reset the codes on my Z3 build. I'll reset it after I install the new plugs and ignition wires as that's all I wanted to wait for before going for California SMOG.

Thanks for sharing this!

"The Diagnostic routine shown above will be discontinued when engine rpm exceeds 3000"

If that's true for an M42, I don't think I've completed a drive cycle since I bought the car!
Since they don't make any real power below 3500...

heh

For obd2, I've always found that the SES light resets immediately when I clear it, and then if the fault
redetects, it lights again. The 'Shadow' faults remain for some time, as the drive cycle doc shows,
but then clear after a while.
This is with BMW Scanner 1.41
