Default Koni Chrome Coilovers (Review)

I purchased some Koni Chrome's coilover kit for my ti. They happen to be damper adjustable both front and rear. The coilover on the other hand is only adjustable in the front. This brings me to the current dilemma I am experiencing. At the moment the car sits pretty low and having no way to raise the back I was forced to roll my fenders to allow the 215/40/17 to fit properly. My original tires were 225/50/16 but when I measured the width of both tires and compared, my 215/40/17 turned out to be wider by 1/2 inch. This combined with a low 20ET offset at such low height cased plenty of rub on the outer lip.

I rolled the fender but to my surprise the rear had much more to go before it settled. Obviously I thought I had corrected my concern but I also forgot 1 giant detail, GAS, this was going to bring the car even lower once full. The dilemma is wanting to stick with the wheel and suspension I have but I don't want to rub.

These are the options I have gotten from those who have some inclination towards this type of scenario.
A-Shave 3-5mm of the wheel center, this would clear perfect.
B-Roll Fenders more
C-Get different spring rate for rear springs.

The next concern I am having is the not so good quality ride in rough terrains and bad roads. I am at the point where things don't sound good or feel good when making a turn on a 1/2" uneven pavement, they sound very loud and bumpy.

The coils were professionally installed double checked and aligned with no problems in the front control arms, tie rods or rear sub frame. I am wondering if I forgot to do something or was suppose to change or add something else when lowering the car?

The Koni's were left at the oem specs but since then I have adjusted the front to 1/2 turn for stiffness but have not noticed any difference.

I would really like to hear from some of you who have experience in this, as I am very new to the upgrading of this car so I can only say I will learn from this.

Thanks,

I have the TC Kline True Match Coilover kit for my 332ti and the rear is adjustable. http://www.tcklineracing.com/webdocs...Details145.cfm

Here is a solution to your problem. You can buy all of TC Kline suspension parts A la carte.

I had never heard of the Koni Chrome until your thread, what was your reasoning behind buying these over other suspension setups on the market?

BTW I'm running 255/40/17 with 12mm spacers at all four corners.

Thanks for the information, I will definitely research this and buy the right one. It looks like exactly what I need. Very fairly priced....

I chose the Koni Chrome not because I preferred them but because I got a great deal and they happened to be in stock versus waiting 2-3 months for others that were on national B/O. It was not immediately obvious to me that the rear was non adjustable until I received them. In the past I had Koni Yellows and they were really good so I thought I would try these.

As far as your setup, can you tell me the offset of the wheels you are running?

Sure I'm running D-Force 17x9 with a 41 ET, note that I needed to roll my front fenders slightly and flare the rears quite a bit.

Do you have some pictures of the fenders so I can get an idea of how much you got away with.

thanks.

To be honest you should be fine with the correct offset. I think that the 255s would have fit with no spacers if I didn't have coilovers and a minor finder roll.

Here is the other 332ti with 235 all round 17x8.5 no rolling at all with koni and H&Rs
