Default american m3 spec

is it true that the american spec m3 e36 is a bored out 328 engine with no throttle boddies and only makes 210bhp,have bmw done this because the american market cant drive very well?????????

That's exactly why they did that. I'm sure it had nothing to do with emissions

As David Coulthard has shown, you Brits have the great driving thing down ;-)...


Umm also, all EFI engines need a throttle body being that that is how they let air into the engine.
The US spec S50/52 did in fact only use one throttle body rather then the euro individual throttle body set up; however, they were rated at 240HP in the E36 and most people and dynos prove that that was a under rated number.

Yeah, like cooljess pointed out. Most cars that have a detuned US market version is because that's what's needed to meet US emission and safety requirements.
