Default strange idle when cold

Hi

only had my 1995 318ti for around a month now and its started to get coled in the uk.
i have recently noticed that occasionally at night when i start the car the revs go to around 1.2k then slowly drop down a blip on the throttle usually helps.

but the last 2 mornings the revs have been alright on tick over but have dropped to around 500 with the fan on setting 2.

this is only an issue on initaial start up and once i set off on my commute its fine just wondered if it is a sign to start looking at or changing something

any help would be great

Regards

Ben

if i believe in the last post i briefly mentioned it and i think familytruckster said it could be a vacuum leak. i also notice when i reverse in neutral down my slight driveway it bounces at really low RPM.

Check all of them. And the crankcase valve. I'd have the codes checked and check all the normal tuneup stuff too, since it's new to you. Also go through the cooling system, as this is a common failure point on these cars.

My 99 318ti seems to do something similar. Well, in texas it gets around 30ish degrees at night (time I work) and I leave after letting it warm up a bit. Seems sometimes it likes to idle close to the 500 mark, but when it's cold, it'll be around 1-1.2k, once warmed up fully, it'll be around 800-900.
The cooling system could mess with the idle?

right then i have finally got round to spending some time on the car this weekend, done the brakes thats another storey.

but found out what up with the idle issue a split intake boot here and here.

a quick bodge with a bike inner tube and zip ties =

any ideas what this part number is or if it is interchangable with any other model or engine size ect?
