replacing manual shift knob

Hello, I am new to the forum. Last fall I purchased a 1996 318ti, and fell in love with the car immediately.

I am replacing the shift knob for two reasons, the leather is tearing off and the knob swivels a good 20 degrees, which is worsening the leather wear.

I purchased a replacement shift knob, in the original leather style, from Bavauto. It came only with the plastic shift-pic and no parts. Also, there were no instructions.

For the life of me I cant find a decent guide with pics and required parts for replacing the shift knob.
