Default Front panel removal?

The front panel that has the grilles in, on my e36 is battered so i want to replace it, do i have to remove the bumper to do this?

To remove the grill panel you will need to remove the bumper first. 4 bolts behind black trim, and countless screws into plastic trim under car, in wheel arch liner etc
Then i would remove the indicators and head lights
Then remove the kidney grills
You may have to undo a split joint in the power steering cooling pipe that threads through the panel.
Remove screws from the panel where it joins the near radiator, and at the ends where it joins the wings.

You will find a few rusty seized screws, mainly the one attching plastic trim to bumper, so be prepared to drill them out,

and source more before reassmbly.

This is not an exact step by step guide, but a general guide of what to expect. Ive just changed one. It takes time, care and patience, but its not too difficult and requires no special tools.
