Default HVAC Panel Removal

So, while trying to figure out why my heater wasn't working I discovered that the bowden cables yellow clip had broken off. Of course it was different than everyone elses that seem to have broken off so I went ahead and ordered a new cable. Now the problem is how do I attach the side to the Heat control? I'm trying to remove the cover that has the dials connected to it, found the two screws behind the right and left knob but cant get the panel off..
Help??

Also was trying to take the stereo out, figured I might be able to get to it that way, but cannot figure out what tool to use to remove the two screws holding it in.
