tried the zm coupe one and could'nt get 1st or 2nd. so i scrapped that and bought a lever and bearing that fits all e36. you can tell it cost £24.99, its really stiff, but it works.

anybody else like the bang sound your exhaust makes when you quick shift? i think it rocks!!!

Manual (roll-down). You can spot the arm in one of the pictures.

I have the M Z3 set up with a MOMO shift knob (nice and heavy). Very happy with this set up. Check out the light and fogs switches (Z3 as well).

I have the same shifter and knob. Did you bend the shifter, and or the selector rod to get it centered? I had to bend it to clear the drive shaft, and to center the knob in neutral. Very happy with the mod, like you said, feels heavy and solid.

ok, if u look at the line up pic at the top, the difference is all about how long it is under the "ball"

the longer the length is there, the shorter the shift distance is.

above the ball, is how far it streches out from the transmission tunnel.

so on the Z4 M3.0 the shift distance between first and second is veeery short, but because of the squat shifter stick, its a real effort to edge in..

compared to for example the Z3 1.9.

her it looks like the shifter stick is much longer in length so you get a better leverage into gear, but the downside is the length under the "ball" means the stick will have to swing alot further to do the same distance as on the Z43.0

the happy medium here is the Z3 2.8 / 3.0 as the shifter stick is a reasonable length and the distance under the ball is also good (same as on the Z43.0) so it wont be a bicth to get in first from cold

the Z3M looks like it may be too long without adjustment, but that isnt even that hard to do either when u know how

Crikey u typed that quick! Yeah that makes sense...just all seems abit pointless..the ti's stick is really short as it is (i had a vw gti as my 1st car and after switching to bimmers it just felt odd! Like drivin a ruddy lorry with the stick comin from the floor up!)..i know it makes changin gear quicker but iv heard that takes some time to get use to the revs tc u need to match and it can only be 0.0003 of a sec quicker anyway....or not????????!! (dont wanna sound ignorant so please correct me with the information!)
