Posts: 53 | Any e30 diff will fit the 318ti because the rear subframe is the same. If you get a medium case diff you will need to get e30 half shafts and shim the abs sensors but with the 3.91 small case you should be able to use the stock half shafts and such. Here is a link to a thread on bimmerforums that mentions the 3.91 small case bolting right in, there is more info out there too if you look. http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum....php?t=1369794 | | | 03-22-2011, 03:32 AM | #6 | Member Join Date: Oct 2008 Location: Mass. Posts: 53 | Yeah I'm selling it because I just got an s52, small case diffs only have one clutch compared to medium which have two. The small case diffs can't handle the torque of any six cylinder so you will need a medium case if you are getting an s52. | | | 03-22-2011, 03:45 AM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2010 Location: Potomac Falls VA DMV Posts: 1,794 | Thanks guys. I'm still interested though, i plan on getting the s52 in for senior year of high school if my grades are good. But i don't know if I can deal with an open dif for another year and a half. Posts: 53 | haha yeah, I bought the 3.91 because I wanted to get the absolute most out of the m44 without getting a 4.10lsd. You don't have to sacrifice as much high rpms on the highway compared to the 4.10 and the 3.91 is certainly a lot faster than the stock 3.45. | | | 03-23-2011, 03:29 AM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2010 Location: Wichita Falls, Texas Posts: 1,364 | How does the 3.91 effect your rpm's at cruising speed? | | | 03-24-2011, 01:18 PM | #10 | Member Join Date: Nov 2008 Location: Connecticut Posts: 59 | How far into mass are you located | | | 03-24-2011, 02:03 PM | #11 | Member Join Date: Oct 2008 Location: Mass. But wasnt from a ti? I'm highly interested but I want the least complicated swap, their argument on that post confused me.
