Nice pile o stuff. Going to be in Lake Geneva later today and tomorrow. Would be cool to see the progress but might be out of the way in the wrong direction.

Almost forgot the updates from this weekend.

Friday I got the mirrors installed as soon as I got out of work. I am really happy with how they look on the car.

I stuck my missing fog delete in too. I really like how they look. I may source an extra ///M bumper and completely shave the foglight holes. It looks kinda cool. I need to figure out the white balance on my phone to take better pictures.

Anyways, I was also in the process of swapping out my drivers side seat belt adjuster, but didn't have the right size Torx bit. I grabbed one on the way home and got back to work Saturday morning. Here is the old and new (old left, new right)

You can't really see the problem much. I ended up breaking the original when I was removing my headliner a while back. I tried fixing it but it kept going off track. Kitty sent me a new one with the mirrors and it works flawlessly=)

After I got that done I finished removing my steering rack by getting the tie rods unbolted from the knuckles. I need to buy a case of brake cleaner so I can clean it up and then see where the leak is coming from.

I did not get anything else done because a local member swung by and I installed a set of coilovers on his e36. We has a pesky bolt that wouldn't come undone for over an hour and upon reinstallation, I snapped it in half. We sourced a bolt easily at the local store and finished it up as soon as we got back.

I am hoping I can get at least something done this week. Fingers crossed

Did I mention you should paint the car Madeiraschwarz?
You should see the color in direct sunlight...

btw I contacted my friend at the BMW dealer... Madeiraschwarz Metallic has in fact never been released in the States...

This car is in the states. Just never heard of it on a 318ti.

It does have the color code badge on the strut tower. I guess the sticker could be purchased too. I'll do more research.

There ya go. The car came from the factory as Alpine White III.

It is a nice color nonetheless.

It is a great color=) I took the mirrors in the direct sunlight and they look insane. It is just to flashy and eye catching for what I am going for right now=p

That really is a cool, unique color. Looks like a cross between Daytona Violet and Cosmosschwarz.

Those mirrors...

Great build! Just read the whole thing and saw some interesting parts you decided to use.

I am especially interested in your bushings. Which Silver Project bushings did you use, 75A or 95A? Also, I'm guessing you used the E30 kit because there is no E36 kit, right?

Were you able to drop the subframe yourself without any help? I have to tackle the same project but don't have any help when I do, so I am trying to think whether to remove the arms first or just drop the whole thing in one go.

It is pretty close to a cross of those. It does have a good bit of blue hue to it in certain lighting.

Mexicans car was Madeira Schwarz

I love how well the mirrors work with the body lines compared to flag mirrors. I will put up a before and after shortly.

Thank you=) I ordered the 75A bushings. I should have went 95A though. 75A is a little softer durometer than I thought but theyll be perfect. If you don't want to wait a long time for them to ship, I would recommend the Ireland Engineering bushings.

Our cars have an e30 rear subframe so they also use e30 bushings. The e36 bushings are completely different and wouldn't work.

I dropped the whole subframe myself. It wasn't too bad at all. Removing the arms is very hard to do with the subframe attached and getting them back on would be a huge pain. The new bushings makes them fit very snug. Dropping the whole subframe is the way to do it. You will most likely need new rubber brake hoses (I got braided stainless through ECS) and your handbrake cables will most likely be frozen into the hubs and basically be destroyed upon removal.

I had a friend help with reinstallation just to help me line the mounting points up so it would life right jnto position without binding. It could easily be done alone. The job is somewhat time consuming so I would give yourself more than a weekend if possible.
