I twisted my BMW-issue jack trying to free my rear rim (does anyone else have this problem with these alloys seizing on the hub?). Car fell back off the jack, damaging the jack in the process. Fortunately, the car wasn't damaged as it rolled back onto the wheel. And fortunately, I wasn't damaged! Anyhow... I need a new jack. Any ideas? I'd like the stock jack, so it fits in the trunk compartment. I thought of trying some junkyards, but figured I'd check the board first. Thanks. | | | 04-11-2002, 01:41 AM | #2 | Junior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: pittsburgh, pa Posts: 1 | same exact thing happened to me, but my jack wasnt damaged enough for me to care to replace it | | | 04-11-2002, 01:48 PM | #3 | Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Peachtree City, GA USA Posts: 69 | Call Strictly-German @ 706.654.9156 or email sales@strictly-german.com ... Posts: 3,156 | Always apply anti-seise compound (available at all decent auto parts stores) to the hub area every time you remove a wheel. BMW wheels locate on the hub, not with the lugs like domestic cars. They can corrode, and seise in place. A gentle tap with a soft-face dead-blow hammer on the inner tire-bead area of the rim typically breaks the bond.
