At first it felt pretty quick but now it feels really slow both of the mark and trying to pull out into the fast lane on a motorway. I have had the car serviced twice since i have had it but not by bmw. The engine still sounds sweet but its pretty loud at 70 mph. Iam a 23 year old joiner with 2 kids so dont really have the money to take it to the garage for repair, plus i would rather do it myself. I would really appreaciate any info on what the problem might be. Also what bhp gains would i expect to see from either a super chip or a remap. If the problem still persists, ask an auto technician to check compression in each cylinders. Your 97 Ti has an M44 that is pretty high strung, and can't squeeze much out of it. Super chips doesn't offer any products for the M44, only tecnique tuning and Dinan. Both are pretty pricey with less than 5hp gains. Best power upgrade is DASC.....check other threads on this matter. If they are new, if they are not new, then yes, you may want to change them. One thing I noticed on my BMW 318ti (97) was after 120k I had the same issue, but it was mostly carbon build up. So before spending $160 just on wires, you may want to check/change the spark plugs, fuel filter, air filter, and try a carbon remover for your fuel injectors. Tops you may spend is $40 (depends on the type of filters and spark plugs you purchase). But i will definatly try an additive to remove the carbon build up. 1 more thing do you know if bmw 6 cylinder dials fit the ti model. Thanks for the quick reply earlier. | | | 03-20-2006, 11:59 PM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2005 Location: Southern California Posts: 420 | not sure here! if they do fit! __________________ "Success is Never Final, Defeat is Never Permanent, it is the Courage to Continue that Matters!" - Winston Churchill Mothman [SIGPIC] | | | 03-24-2006, 11:12 PM | #8 | Member Join Date: Mar 2006 Location: Middlesbrough UK Posts: 34 | MPG gauge in my 318ti Hi, Does any 1 know how to connect the mpg gauge in a 1997 318ti. I have connected the dials up and they work perfect apart from the mpg gauge. When i press the accelerator the gauge slides to 50+mpg then when i stop it slides back to 0mpg but does not opperate during normal driving. The dials are out of a 318 4 cylinder. 1 more thing i am a bulb out on the dials, i have replaced the bulb but it still doesnt light up. Any suggestions. There's a KB article on that too. | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
