Default finally changed struts/shocks at 230k miles

I finally got around to doing the front struts and rear shocks on my '95 318ti. I was really surprised at how good the originals were, the car's handling was a little looser, but not too bad.

I got some cheap shocks from APX, they have a DIY video for replacing them in the Z3. They went in fairly easily and seem to work fine, I think the price for four was about $160; so very cheap. This is my roof rack car that I use for hauling bikes, kayak etc. With 230k it's not something I wanted to pour a lot of money into. The only problem I had was compressing the springs on the front. I wasn't able to do it with my home spring compressor so I took it to a shop. So $160 for the parts, and $38 to assemble two struts; not too bad.

You still riding with these things? I am looking at getting a full set as I am in the same situation you were in when you posted: high mileage car that I don't want to put to much money in yet.

At the moment want to get it street legal
