Default Steering wheel replaced no horn

I searched the site and can't understand why my horn do not work after I installed the new steering wheel. Any suggestions or instructions on how to fix this problem Thanks

If you plugged in the (yellow I think) horn connection then the 'clock spring' wire assembly is probably bad. It should not be moved when the wheel is on or off the car, or it can end up all the way to one side and rip apart when you turn the wheel.

I think it is usually attached to the wheel with a plastic release lever that keeps it from turning when it is off the car.

Maybe your 'new' wheel has a bad clock spring? Maybe the one from your old wheel can be used on the new wheel? I'm not sure...

Double check your connections first... Use an ohm meter to check the clock spring wire assembly.

You sure are!

What is the wheel from? A much older car, clearly.

It has a sliding contact for the horn, not the clock spring at all.

Sorry, but it will not work (unless you get very creative).

You've probably also noticed an airbag (SRS) light on your dash? Neither the airbag nor the horn will be functional like this.

The three small socket head screws around the center hole of the wheel hold the slipring in place- this is the plastic cylinder that contains the electrical contacts for the airbag and the horn. The slipring on the wheel now looks kinda fuxd up somehow.

Part 3 here-

Link here.

Notice the wires? They are there to hook up the airbag and horn. It looks like you can put a slipring on that wheel with no problem, and it should work then with the horn and airbag. Sliprings are wear items- it's very common for them to require replacement (when the horn stops working or that SRS light on your dash comes on). Do a search for the part number. You may be able to pick up a used one on Ebay or the like, or get a new one.

My slip ring went bad shortly after I swapped to a 3-spoke OEM wheel. Horn wouldn't work, although my airbag light did not come on. A new slip ring set me right. I assumed it was due to wear/age. I picked mine up here from someone parting their car.

It looks like a euro E30 wheel. What car did you install this in?
