Good vid. Whats that thing u got there taht turns on red where the stereo goes. How many horses are you pushing on ur ride? What kind of transmission u have, it says swap. What exactly does the strut bar and springs do? Do you ever drop the clutch?? Like rev at 4000rpms and drop the clutch? Well the rpms dont go up as fast as i thought, which is good, that way you wont redline. I think the funniest thing of the whole vid is, you had no gas Does the SC eat alot of gas? | | | 12-18-2005, 05:55 PM | #5 | doesn't care about you. That's what "transmission swap" means. The red light is a PLX Devices R500 wideband controller and datalogger. The red light was setup as a shift light when I was making the video. Now it's connected to my knock sensors and lights up whenever the knock sensors are active. It has nothing to do with the stereo. How much hp? I don't know. Between 100 and 300. I haven't dynoed it yet. Springs - lower the car and stiffen the suspension. Better handling. Strut bars - Braces the strut/shock towers together to provide more rigidity, better handling. I try not to drop the clutch at 4k rpm, but I have. The rev-limiter does a good job of stopping over-rev. I hit it sometimes. __________________ '99 Dinan M3 | | | 12-19-2005, 01:58 AM | #11 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2005 Location: çî†ÿ øf åNgëL§, CA Posts: 5,314 | Quote: Originally Posted by DustenT It was an automatic. So thats thing it just tells you to change gears? So springs help alot when racing?? lets say just straight, not in turns? how mcuh springs cost? | | | 12-19-2005, 02:37 AM | #12 | aka Stabby Join Date: Nov 2004 Location: Mead, CO Posts: 5,336 | at that point, he had the tool set to light up when he should shift up. he has since reconfigured it. stiffer springs (which also tend to be configured for lowering your car) will resist compression, regardless of whether is from a straight-line weight shift from accelerating or braking or from turning into a corner. i would say springs will help the most in track racing and auto-x rather than 1/4 dragging. __________________ 1996 318ti, California package, 267k miles current mods: bilstein sports, bavauto springs, e30 m3 LCABs, solid metal ball joints, bavauto RSMs w/reinforcements, e30 3.73 LSD & halfshafts, supersprint cat-back exhaust, turner rear sway bar reinforcements, IE poly subframe & RTABs + camber/toe kits, powdercoated e36 32x front calipers, sport mirrors, H&R 28mmF/19mmR sway bars, x-brace, auto solutions SSK w/poly bushing upgrade, BMW CD43 head unit, DICE HD Radio w/iPod integration and "stealth" HD antenna, staggered style 68s, orange electronic TPMS, leather arm rest, JT Designs metal undertray acquired and awaiting install: heated seat kit, cali top switch relo, lumbar support kit, park distance control kit, heated washer nozzle kit, m-coupe rear subframe, trailing arms, differential, and halfshafts, m-coupe front/rear brakes with master cylinder, under hood light kit, mud flaps, rear sun blind, auto-dimming rear view mirror, tilt steering wheel retrofit, apexcone 5000K HIDs with 55W ballasts 2002 X5 4.4 Sport Package, 53.5k miles Current Mods: e46 m3 steering wheel | | | 12-19-2005, 05:31 AM | #13 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2004 Location: Muncie, Indiana Posts: 1,551 | Quote: Originally Posted by 1996Bmw318TI i know it has nothing to do with the stereo, but i was wondering why it lighted up. If you really want to make you car look like a drag car, get coil-overs, lower the front to the ground and raise the back all the way up. Then lower the compression in the rear. That way when you take off the back squats to put the most weight possible over the rear axle. Then you fit the wide Mickey Thompsons on the rear for maximum traction. To make full use of that though you would need a lot of power. I go to the strip just for kicks, but a BMW doesn't not thrive at the strip...curves like at a road track are where BMWs do well. Domestic V-8s own the strip. | | | 12-19-2005, 06:04 AM | #14 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2004 Location: WA STATE Posts: 129 | Nice work dusten | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
