I'd like to spend some more time in Asia. I've been to Japan, but most of my other travels have been in Europe. I'd like to eventually make it to Taiwan, Korea, Indonesia, and whatever else I can afford. Keep us posted on those underdrive pulleys. | | | 04-06-2007, 05:01 PM | #18 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2006 Location: Westfield, IN Posts: 1,335 | damn i wish i could go to taiwan, japan and china!! my family is from china and taiwan so hopefully this summer i can convince my mom to take the fam to asia!! nice pics pnosker!!! __________________ Greg M42 Club member 186 WTB: HELLROT RED CLUB SPORT 95 ti sold but staying in the family. | | | 04-06-2007, 05:06 PM | #19 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2006 Location: G-dale, California Posts: 1,698 | Quote: Originally Posted by pnosker Not yet, but I did win an Airsoft Deagle at a night market that I could use... just give me the word and address! | PERFECT! shot him in the eye with that shyt loll address now thats a problem its ok tho we can track him down hahahah __________________ Live Everyday As If Its Your Last A friend is someone who is willing to step into a flame to save you........aka a 318ti | | | 04-09-2007, 01:30 AM | #20 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2006 Location: Central NJ Posts: 2,440 | Too late, I'm back in the States. They have a history of BMW tuning (own over 100 cars to tune) starting with the 2002 I believe. They have a Turbo kit for the M50, M52, M54, S50, and S52. They offered me one at the price of $2000 in order to test it and get the name out there to start selling these in America (right now they sell mostly to Europe + Asia). The turbo it comes with it is the RHC6 turbo (I'll ask for specs) and that's all the info I have right now. If anyone with one of these motors is interested in trying it out, since I don't have one, you can have my promotional price. I'll ask them about warranty stuff or whatever. | | | 04-19-2007, 12:08 AM | #22 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2006 Location: SOUTH Jersey Posts: 1,085 | I can't wait to see.. I definatly want the underdrive pulley.. I am no real fan of turbocharged cars.. but a centrifugal supercharger would be fun | | | 04-19-2007, 12:32 AM | #23 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2006 Location: Central NJ Posts: 2,440 | Well the cost of the underdrive pulley is around $150 I think... I just recently was contacted by them. They claim 6-7 hp gain. It's made out of T-6061 machined aluminum. I'll get the first one in the States and I'll run a dyno test before and after before I start a group buy so you guys know what you're getting. I might have convinced my dad to get the 6-cyl turbo so if he does we'll dyno pre and post. This is the turbo: http://www.jhy.com.tw/product_view.a...o=200703280002 It's low boost for long life, intercooled, and does not require an ECU remap. | | | 04-19-2007, 12:33 AM | #24 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2006 Location: Central NJ Posts: 2,440 | | | | 04-19-2007, 12:46 AM | #25 | doesn't care about you. That's hardly worth $2k. I'm curious how much boost they run, probably only like 3 or 4 psi. The exhaust side of the turbo isn't included either. TechniqueTuning gets almost a 60% increase with their stage 1 kit. I know that the two kits are night and day when it comes to price, but man...if you are going to go FI with a BMW I6, you should go all the way and get something that is going to make you sh!t yourself every time you drive it. __________________ '99 Dinan M3 | | | 04-19-2007, 01:17 AM | #26 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Halethorpe, MD Posts: 1,028 | So are you going to be the distributor for this stuff if we want to buy something? | | | 04-19-2007, 01:41 AM | #27 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2006 Location: Central NJ Posts: 2,440 | DustenT: Yeah, I know... but is it really fair? They said they built this kit in order to satisfy a customer who needed no loss of reliability (which obviously a high psi turbo would not be able to guarantee). For development of the M42/M44 turbo, I asked for 7-8 psi (similar to DASC) with capability to boost up to at least 11. Bullmand: I'm not sure. I'm going to college next year and don't really want a full-fledged business operation going, but to help you guys I think I could handle it. I'm going to school to be a doctor, not a salesman for performance parts for BMW's. But yeah, in essence, I'll be the distributer for the 318ti community. | | | 04-19-2007, 02:04 AM | #28 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Halethorpe, MD Posts: 1,028 | That's cool. I'm not trying to pressure you. I can understand school being your priority. It's just nice to see a company that seems to actually have an interest in developing products for our cars. Who knows, you may be able to turn this into a lucrative side project. Good luck either way. | | | 04-20-2007, 09:03 AM | #29 | Member Join Date: Sep 2006 Location: CA Posts: 61 | The booth pictures look a lot like the bottom floor of AAPEX in Vegas. I work for an automotive parts distributor that deals with Asia on a regular basis. Be wary of what the reps tell you...been there, done that. Like any salesman, they will tell you what you like to hear, show you a shiny sample, then explain that they can make anything you want. There are a small few companies that will work with you to make a good product. The best of this pool are also OE suppliers to BMW, VW, and GM China. They have the metallurgy down, the manufacturing consistency and tolerances are perfect, and the QC is just as good as a supplier from Bavaria. However, the vast majority of companies have QC that's all over the map and have no clue what metallurgy means. I've seen turbos poorly glued together that have separated under high temperature, sending bits of impeller and shaft back in the engine and causing catastrophic damage. Guess who eats that? The manufacturer sure won't. That leaves you or the end customer. I mean, if the kit is proven and reliable then that's great, but the reason I mention this is because you say you're going to school to be a doctor. I'd hate to see a student that's going through enough pressures and stress having to deal with the kinds of problems that I've seen at work. Bottom line: Know your supplier! __________________ '98 Avus Blue 318ti Sport | '86 Arctic Blue 325 2.8i stroker | '11 LeMans Blue 328i Sport Wagon www.strictlyeta.net | | | 04-20-2007, 11:38 AM | #30 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2006 Location: Central NJ Posts: 2,440 | Wow... that sucks. The only reason I want to trust JHY is because my dad told me Ruff had a good reputation with the 2002. | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
