I plan on making a custom rear strut brace these days and would really need your help. Could someone who has a rear strut brace please send me a photo? I want to have an example for what i'll make instead of making it all on my own. What i need is a photo of the brace plate, where it bolts on the tower! Hope someone can send me a photo...! Thanks! __________________ Alpina front lip spoiler,ACS roof spoiler,OEM clear rear-side lights,In-Pro blackchrome front indicators,Lummar tinted glasses,318ti.org decalls,Eibach Sportline 45mm/30mm springs,Bilstein Sprint shocks,16mm rear sway bar, front eccentric wishbone bushes,E46 conv. Such a brace would be pretty useless. | | | 01-28-2007, 11:14 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2004 Location: Manassas, VA Posts: 4,129 | Are we getty petty? There are rear shock tower braces. I have yet to see a touring car that doesn't have bracing between the rear shock towers. It just seems to connect the two main subframe mounting posts. But, the main subframe crossmember should cover that job pretty well. I wonder if it's possible to come up with a rear X-Brace. The normal x-brace helps connect the front subframe to the chassis; I wonder if there would be a good chassis mounting point in the rear half of the car? That whole rear subframe is only connected to the chassis at 3 points. You'd think there would be room for improvement. Hmmm..... There are actually two mini chassis braces on the car already, but I wonder if the rear subframe moves around much, even with urethane subframe mounts? | | | 03-12-2007, 04:19 AM | #12 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2004 Location: Fort Collins, CO Posts: 290 | Quote: Originally Posted by H3_2.1-ti That's funny! Whether you add a butt strut or a rear shock tower brace, all you're doing is building a rectangle. Rectangles are NOT strong shapes in torsion. Triangles are. This is why the OEM x-brace is so effective. | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
