Default Power Steering Pulley Dimensions

I am coming up empty handed in my search for an under driven power steering pulley, VAC has an M42 pulley but nothing for the M44. I'm not looking for a power gain, I really just think the power steering is over boosted and would love to tone it down a notch.

I was hoping some of you guys might have power steering pump pulleys from the various BMW engines lying around and could measure them so we can find out how they compare to the M44 pulley.

I believe the M50/S50/S52 use the same pulley while the M52 (328 and 323) use a different pulley. Also, the M42 pulley dimensions would help. Dimensions from older/newer engines would be helpful too.

The major dimensions needed would be:

-Overall diameter
-Overall width
-Width of the belt groove (belt size is on realoem)
-The number of bolt holes (size of bolts can be found on realoem)
-BMW part number if possible

The belt PN can give you the belt width/number of grooves.

Also consider offset.

Yeah that's true. I'll look up the other pulleys and see if they use the same width belts. Offset is good to have for sure.

If all else fails, ASP makes custom pulleys. Kind of pricey, but very nice products. They make the ONLY performance part for the old crown vics.

So realoem and ECS gave me some insight into this.

M44 Pulley (32421247891): 3 M8X14 Bolts using a 6PK X 1733 belt

M52 Pulley (32421740858): 3 M8X14 Bolts using 6PK X 1555 belt, realoem has the diameter as 135mm, this pulley is also used on the M54 engine.

S52 Pulley (32421722555): 3 M8X14 bolts using 6PK X 1555 belt, used on the M50, S50, and some M42 I believe.

If the pictures on ECS can be trusted the S52 pulley is clearly offset where the other two are flat faced. So it seems if there was one that would fit it would be the M52.

I got an email back from ASP, they are willing to make a PS under drive pulley, and probably the other pullies if people wanted them, for around $150. I need to send them a pulley so they can pull dimensions so if anyone has an M44 pulley they don't need let me know and I can give you some cash to send it to ASP.

A stack of M44 pullies? I only talked to them about the PS pulley but if people are interested in the alternator and water pump you could send those too if you wanted. Personally, I don't like the idea of under driving the alternator and especially not the water pump on these cars.

If they are handy can you measure the diameter of the M44 PS pulley?

I'll try tomorrow. Yeah, a stack. I've got a lot of parts for some reason.

If the meet is still on I can bring that stuff out.
