Default 323ti Sport Limited Edition from Germany

I randomly found this site and was surprised that there is a BMW Compact only forum , so I had to register because there is no such thing in Germany, people dont realy like the Compacts here.

As the title says, I'm from Germany and drive a rare 323ti Sport Limited Edition, it even get's rarer because of the color it has, my car is painted in Imola Red II, which only was available for the E36 for the Sport Limited Edition 323ti, the GT2 Evo M3 and some few individual 3series before it got standard for the E39 and E46.

I live half an hour away from Ramstein AB, so I only have a 1 1/2 hour drive to the Nürburgring, don't think there's a need to explain what that is

I'd like to tell something about my car, because I spend alot of time and money on it to keep it OEM but also track-ready as much as possible, so I hope it's ok if I do that here.

First the options the car got loaded with by factory....

Car Type:

*2000 BMW E36 323ti Compact Sport Limited Edition

*M52B25 engine--> 2.5 liter I6 with 170bhp --> dynoed with 203 bhp!

I.C.E. :

*iPod 4th Generation, no color display...20GB HDD....it's enough
*Custom 2-Way front system by Hertz

Brakes:

*Stock front & rear brakes
--> vented rotors in the front, massives in the back.

*Steel flex brake line kit by Fischer Hydraulik

Rims & Tires:

-->all 4 wheels
*Continental Sport Contact 3 tires in 225/45/17

*custom build in England --> Team Dynamics Motorsport "Pro Race 1.2 S" in Racing flat black with red rim

--> 17x8 , 35mm offset

Rims weigh 9 kg, so do the tires.......I searched for light wheels for a good price and found them at Team Dynamics, a British Touring Car Racing team.

+ they had to be street legal in Germany
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Technis...wachungsverein

....some Lotus Elise and Ariel Atoms also came with these wheels.

You can also see these rims in Top Gear Season 12 Episode 03 on the Renault Avantime.

--> no fender works and spacers necessary!

As you can see, I tried to use as many BMW parts as possible!
All the body parts except for the rims and the kidney grill are original BMW parts, no knock offs!

Car is build to corner, not to do great 1/4 mile times!!!!

Top speed is 146 mph -> Autobahn ftw

Welcome!

Nice Car.

Compacts were hugely popular in Europe.. Why do you say they are not popular in Germany?

they are poplular....but alot of people say that they are no proper BMWs because of the short rear end....they also dont like the E30 style dash and rear axle.

I dont care though.

In the USA, they also think it's not a proper BMW due to the 4 cylinders.
Anyway I think you will find here that people love them. It's a secret that ti's are fun to drive which most people in this country will never know.
Welcome... you are among friends here.

Wouldn't that be a M50 being that it is a 2.5L?

Wouldn't that be a M50 being that it is a 2.5L?
323 M52s were actually 2.5L cars, but they were just detuned...
I think the difference between the M52B25 and the M52B28 was the stroke, but the bore was the same.
Interesting that the car dynoed at 203 bhp...makes me think about how much power my 323 has haha

Sutobe- it would be interesting for us in the states to see some details of the battery placement which should be in the trunk and how it fits with the spare tire, etc. We like to do engine swaps over here and relocating the battery to the rear offsets the 6cyl engine weight up front.

Could you do that? Guys are there any other differences in the 323ti we'd like to capture?

For your trouble I will mail you one taco or some weak beer.
