Group, I (also) just got my DASC. I'm curious what everyone (who has one) has experienced as far as installation time (by a professional). Four hours? Six? Eight? What have you all paid to have it installed? Thanks, Chris __________________ 2011 BMW X5d with EVERYTHING on it 2007 Cooper S (6 speed manual) 2001 Eurovan 1997 318ti | | | 10-20-2006, 04:30 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2005 Location: çî†ÿ øf åNgëL§, CA Posts: 5,314 | When i opened up my box. I was like Holy Sh!t. Thats a lot of hardware and parts. have you open the blower box yet? Beautiful aint it? Im probably going to be the last person to have my car running with the DASC one since my dad has very little time. Maybe do like 2 hours a day. | | | 10-20-2006, 04:41 AM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2005 Location: Calabasas Posts: 187 | DASC: Professional Install Time I haven't opened it up yet with no plans to do so. I'm not going to try to install it myself. Anyone? How long has it taken your independent shop to install your DASC? It took me a leisurely weekend to do it, and fired up the first time. It's a well thought out kit. I'd say if a shop did it in 4 hrs their first time doing a DASC they'd be heroes, or being careless. More likely they'd milk it for about 8. | | | 10-20-2006, 06:19 AM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2005 Location: Calabasas Posts: 187 | Can anyone recommend a shop in Southern California? __________________ 2011 BMW X5d with EVERYTHING on it 2007 Cooper S (6 speed manual) 2001 Eurovan 1997 318ti | | | 10-20-2006, 06:20 AM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2005 Location: Calabasas Posts: 187 | Milking it for 8 hours... Therein lies the problem: finding a competent shop that won't rob you in installation costs (milking). They specialize in BMWs... I'm not too sure how long that would take installing it... I heard that "The M Shop" also does great work. IIRC, ZeroG installed his DASC himself and I believe it took him a whole weekend. -Randy __________________ 97 Jet Black 318ti Sport. Not so stock anymore!.... I doubt you'll get any more special treatment/discount than anyone else for an install job unless youre like family with the shop guy or youve done repeat business. there's an hrly rate, i'm sure that's what'll be charged. plus, since theyre such a well known shop, they get tons of business and cant just focus/cater to one specific person/car. If you can't do it yourself and your pops aint got the time, just pay up whatever you get charged and get it installed RIGHT. With this cheap mentality of yours that you have with your car, I wouldn't be surprised if you blew up your current engine like you did the last. __________________ 318Ti Sport (Gone, but thanks for your years of service) | M3 E30 | 190E-16V | M Coupe E36/8 | | | 10-20-2006, 01:59 PM | #13 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2005 Location: Florida Posts: 2,525 | Quote: Originally Posted by AutoM3otives cheap? I've been dealing with a shop called the BimmerPlace here in Orlando for over 6 years and I don't get any special treatment. Sure they do get me scheduled in at no notice and I don't pay book rate, but I do pay the hourly rate and the standard markup on parts. But, honestly, I don't think the Bimmerplace charges anybody book rate. At the end of the day I don't mind because Josh, the owner, has a family and he has to feed them. There have been a few occassions where he would read codes for me or reset an ABS light after taking the seats out at no charge. But that takes him all of 2 minutes to do. He's also hooked me up on safety inspections for any track days I've done, but if he finds anything wrong I let him go ahead and fix it for me just so he gets something out of it. What I would do is find a reputable shop that is willing to give you a quote on a flat rate for the install. I wouldn't expect a good shop to do a supercharger install for less than 500$. Probably more like 650$. They'll probably quote you 6-8 hours from what other people have said it took to do their installs. | | | 10-20-2006, 07:16 PM | #14 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2004 Location: Tracy, California Posts: 473 | 6 hours for a clean professional install Mine was done in 6 hours by my mechanic. If i did, id rather buy something else. But anyway, i dont mind if it take a whole week, aslong as it gets put on  | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Thread Tools | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
