Default Does anyone surf?

Hey my bruduh's and sista's,

Im looking to pick up a surf rack for my ti. After searching for Thule fit kits(225) which are no longer manufactured.

Im forced to pick up one of those $50 foam jobs and I was wondering if anyone has had any success and are happy with this type of board rack.

Im looking for specific brands if you can let me know what you are using that would be great!

Thanks

you can still use a Thule rack, you just have to piece together a fit kit

You can use XM double surf racks if you open up the rear pop-out window and run the rear straps through there.

The only bad thing is the short roof line, so short boards fit fine, but any kind of larger board will stick way off the front and grab a lot of air. I was never comfortable with a longer board strapped to the top of the Ti. Instead, I would usually put down the back seats and run the board up between the driver seats. I could fit a 6'10 fish inside the Ti while driving with the hatched closed.

The Bmw dealership has the rack system for the ti on sale for about 150. Its cheaper than trying to by a thule set and piecing everything together since they no longer make them. The ti fits my boards perfectly with the rear seats laid flat. I have fit 6 boards, two wetsuits, and a couple bags with plenty of room left over in the back. I can have more money in surfboards in my car at one time than what my car is worth, so I would never risk having them on top, unless I have a secure system like the bmw roof rack, and can lock the boards securely on top. I will be purchasing one soon, so that I can have room in the back seat whenever I head to the outerbanks or florida to surf.
