I'm thinking about upgrading my wheels for my ti. At first I was looking for chrome wheels but I saw these 18 inch beauties They are actually shiny black wheels and they would compliment my shiny black ti. __________________ 1995 BMW 318ti | | | 08-19-2006, 07:46 PM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2006 Location: CA Posts: 104 | suv wheels bah | | | 08-19-2006, 07:47 PM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2006 Location: SOUTH Jersey Posts: 1,085 | too much bling... | | | 08-19-2006, 07:54 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2006 Location: CA Posts: 104 | what's the weight? 50 pounds per wheel? | | | 08-19-2006, 08:21 PM | #5 | Member Join Date: May 2006 Location: Greensboro, North Carolina Posts: 77 | I checked and they do fit 1992 and up e36 models, including 318s. I like them becasue they are different and I dont have to worry too much about brake dust. __________________ 1995 BMW 318ti | | | 08-19-2006, 08:34 PM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2005 Location: Portland Or Posts: 2,666 | They also won't likely cool your brakes..... If you notice most BMW wheels have lots of open area to allow air flow. Of course if its style over function..... Because of the weight, it might throw the speedometer off so that would need to be calibrated. __________________ 1995 BMW 318ti | | | 08-20-2006, 12:25 AM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2006 Location: SOUTH Jersey Posts: 1,085 | 48 pounds?!? that is a LOT of gyroscopic weight you are putting on your Ti. Steering is going to feel really heavy, braking is going to take longer, acceleration is going to suffer, and your handling will degrade with that much weight. Not to mention the wear and tear on the car and suspension just from everyday driving. You are going to destroy the struts and bushings faster with these on the car. | | | 08-20-2006, 12:34 AM | #10 | Member Join Date: May 2006 Location: Greensboro, North Carolina Posts: 77 | Quote: Originally Posted by Mad-Machine 48 pounds?!? that is a LOT of gyroscopic weight you are putting on your Ti. When I had my Tiburon, the Enkei rims I put on her (rpo1s) weighted only 15 pounds a piece. It really made a big difference in how the car ran and handled. I recently bought these... 17" M3 rims.. | | | 08-20-2006, 12:50 AM | #12 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2004 Location: Long Beach area Posts: 1,189 | wow 48 pounds is heavier than my wheel+tire's weight... good luck accelerating haha... __________________ 97 Jet Black 318ti Sport. I want a larger size wheel, around 17-18 inches but I'll thry to find some far less than 48 pounds. __________________ 1995 BMW 318ti | | | 08-20-2006, 01:04 AM | #14 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2004 Location: SoCal Posts: 549 | youd need at least an escalade to sport those AND keep up with traffic. __________________ 318Ti Sport (Gone, but thanks for your years of service) | M3 E30 | 190E-16V | M Coupe E36/8 | | | 08-20-2006, 01:23 AM | #15 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2006 Location: dorchester Posts: 700 | ohhhhhhh my god...is he actually being serious?? i know its each to their own and i am NEVER rude on these sites but is there something going on in the states that hasnt reached the uk yet?? if they were on a vehicle over here the car would be set fire to in seconds..and quite frankly rightly so!
