Default EVAP shutoff valve?

Hey. SO I have a CEL about the "EVAP shut off valve". Does anyone know what this is and/or how to fix this? I need to get my smog check done but can't b/c of this CEL. Please help me out.
Thanks,
Marvin

btw, i have a 1997 S52 in my 318ti. Everything was swapped into it from the donor car. And the code that came off of the OBD II scanner was P1403.

Resurrecting an old thread....
Marv, did you ever resolve this? If so can you let me know what the solution was? I'm having the same problem.

I wanted to follow up to this thread with the resolution for future reference. I ended up taking mine to a local shop to track this down after my attempts to resolve it failed. I replaced the "shut-off valve" (16131184235) that is actually attached to the charcoal canister behind the door on the drivers side. This did not resolve the P1403 code. It turns out that there's another valve in the engine compartment called the "fuel tank breather valve" (13901744150) that was the culprit. The shop swapped that out and the check engine light is off with no pending codes. While this happened on my S52 swapped car, these parts are both present on the M44 as well. Hopefully this will help someone in the future.

Hold the phone. The light has come back. It looks like I've got some melted wiring in the engine harness which is probably the source of this particular issue.

Marvin,

Same problem here for me.

Please clue me in if you figured out the solution.

Coding it out in the DME is a possible solution but if all the EVAP parts are there it seems like it should be able to work.
