My holiday present to myself; A completely original 1984 318i; A true $1000 e30!!! Of course it's not perfect and needs some help; Paint is oxidized, but since there is no clearcoat, I have already started working on cleaning it and bringing back the color (HennaRot); The hood is pretty bad, but hopefully I can get the finish back without rubbing off all the paint! I am not going to be modding this car, just cleaning it up and using it for a fair weather DD and round town car. Issues that need to be fixed ASAP: Seats (obviously!), and a few other minor interior things, Wiper and turn signal stalks seem to be worn or making bad connections. Shifter is extremely sloppy... Rear brakes need attention (it has rear drums, hopefully just needs adjusting). Going to order some new ellipsoids (Smoked or Clear?) since it has the old crappy sealed beams and one of the lens is broken. __________________ James 95 active w/leather interior and sport interior conversion, Vaders, full M-Tech exterior conversion. Other then that keep interior bone stock same with exterior just nice and clean, it would be beautiful! __________________ ***328ti Build thread. *** Even more important: SUPPORT 318ti.org! Paint came back amazingly nice. Going to hopefully pick up some black e30 sport seats tomorrow after work! __________________ James 95 active w/leather interior and sport interior conversion, Vaders, full M-Tech exterior conversion. My friend Frank (came with us when we had dinner with Jessie) is in need of a inexpensive car to go to work and back (he is carless at the moment ) If you come across another good deal in fair/decent mechanical condition let me know. I had an 84 318 and I loved it!! That car was bullet proof and when I got rid of it had more than 300K miles! | | | 12-31-2012, 05:53 PM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2008 Location: South Central, MN Posts: 1,065 | Nice work James __________________ | | | 12-31-2012, 11:25 PM | #10 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2007 Location: norcal - 94590 Posts: 3,186 | Thanks gang! finding this car was a bit quick for me. I always have a google alert for 318ti set, and this popped up in my feed while I was at work. I swung by, and bought it on the spot... It needs a new/replacement ICV and a few other little things, but I should be able to get it up to dd duties in a jiffy. __________________ James 95 active w/leather interior and sport interior conversion, Vaders, full M-Tech exterior conversion. I had an 84 years ago in Bronzit with a green/cream interior. Great mileage car, light and fun to throw around. I still have my 1991 E30 318ic as my summer DD. A clean e21 would also have been nice... __________________ James 95 active w/leather interior and sport interior conversion, Vaders, full M-Tech exterior conversion.
