Default Bad Speakers

I just bought a 1997 bmw 318ti and the rear right speaker is working but making noise. Anyone know where i can find one? or a set or something. Will aftermarket ones fit?

aftermarket ones will fit but you need them in a 4T size which makes them hard to find, there are write-ups in the knowledge base on installing oversized speakers in the stock locations though

I have one. I had the rear's replaced on my '96 (only one was blown, but I replaced both), so I have no used for it. Pay for the shipping and it's yours.

Default Same problem

I have a rear right speaker out to (the one in the corner underneath the tweeter). I actually think it's both because they both sound like **** lol. Where can i find some good 4T speakers that will sound real nice and handle the wattage of a nice 50w or 55w cd reciever? All is good with the 318ti besides the stock sound system it is terrible...My old dodge avenger had better speakers/sound.

just about anything can handle a "50w" cd player. Because That thing isn't pumping out crap. You would need a decent amp to max out anything but a bargain basement speaker.

Default 4T speakers

Can't find em anywhere really, could only find factory for $140 which is pretty insane.. While clicking around on ebay I found some rear 6x9 adapters. Anyone that's used these before and can tell me how it worked out?

Check out this link:

There are better options than stock speakers or 4"
Also, there is a 5 1/4" adapter plate available if you check ebay.

I was able to mount 4x6s I had from my old car in place of the bottom rear speaker (I gave/sold my tweeters to Steve). Was easy to do and quite effectively held into place just using zip ties.

mine blew on the right and replaced the whole rear set-up for about $170-ish.

i got the MB quart premiums from ebay and the sound amazing, the tweeters get high enough to make me cringe sometimes.

i had to make custom brackets though b/c i didnt buy the adapters. all you have to do though is trace the harness on some MDF board and cut it out. that way you can also make a custom opening to match the size of the speaker you're putting.
