Default Biggest diameter tire 15"

Ok so I have seen alot of discussion for tires one the 318's. I have stock 15" wheels and want to know the biggest diameter tire I could safely put on my car. The 235/40/17 or 225/45/17 tires are shorter than the 205/65/15 I have on there now. I was also considering a 215/60/15 but right now have access to some 215/65/15 tires but they are 26" diameter. So If anyone knows or has tried let me know. I have a 97 318ti active with stock suspension. I'm not just looking for biggest tire but tallest tire I could go. They way to I could try some 16's I may be able to get to work on there to.
