Default Pulling Engine to Replace Clutch!

Today I spent the day taking out the transmission by following these awesome instructions: http://www.pelicanparts.com/bmw/tech...ch_Replace.htm

The problem I just ran into is the very last, top bolt that attaches to the starter. The starter housing are not threaded, they are bolted. The lower bolt was easy to remove. The top bolt has been the bane of my existence. 1. I can NOT reach/fit/slide/jam/hammer my way to the nut behind the bolt. 2. I have unfortunately stripped the torx head of the bolt.

I don't see another option other than pulling the engine, unless anyone has any ideas.

If not, does anyone know of any good engine/transmission-pulling article? I googled it, but haven't found anything too comprehensive.

Thanks!

Use white medical tape, a sharpie, label every connector both sides as you take things apart. Use a digital camera any time you see something new, the more pics the better as you go. Drain everything first... You can buy "finger cots" at a good drugstore, they work great for covering small pipes or any tube to prevent stuff from getting where it shouldn't.

Good Luck
Dave

I realize this is for the 6 cyl Z3, but it might give you some ideas:
