Question Oil Leak on M42 engine...

Good afternoon!

I don't post much because I find everything I need by searching this site but I need help. My son has '95 318ti Sport (M42) with 150k miles and has owned it for the past four years. As things go wrong, we work on it together

Here is the current issue I need help with. Within the past six months, oil leaks have been appearing and getting worse by the week. I have researched common oil leak problems with this engine.

From what I've researched from this site, most oil leaks are caused by the oil housing however I'm not seeing any puddles of oil around the oil housing. The oil I can see is coming from the area near the air conditioner compressor / crank pulley.

Is there any other common oil leaks with the M42 engine I should be looking for? I plan to pressure wash front of the engine latter latter this week.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Sounds like your timing case is leaking. Check the thread out for a complete DIY guide.

I would dare say that's probably coolant and you probably have a blown head gasket.

The little green dots on the dipstick are pretty common as you can see from the thread above. Just take it for a nice drive before you do anything drastic.
