Default ABS light... Location of Control Unit?

I recently went through and put new OEM quality pads and rotors on all 4 wheels because I had both the ABS and the Pad wear lights... I still have the pad wear light, and also the ABS light.. While changing the brakes, I cleaned all the sensors with electric parts cleaner . This didnt make a difference...

What im wondering now is regarding the abs.. Where is the control unit located? Is it wise to unplug it, clean it, and plug it back in in hopes that it works and clears the light? Or should I get new sensors and just hope that does the trick?

I know the control unit is expensive, but ive found a few for less than 100.00 used.. would it be wise to get new sensors anyways, and if that doesnt work then to look to change the control unit?

also with the pad wear light still on, I did not bleed the brakes. Could this possibly solve the pad wear light issue?

thank you for any information !

Im learning more about these cars everyday, slowly starting to get my Clubsport back to perfect stock form.

Anthony

Did you test all the wheel speed sensors with an ohm meter yet?

actually, they're only $10 each, and you only need 2, left-front and right-rear

I was under the impression there were 4 pad wear sensors, and only 2 ABS sensors?

ABS driverside front, and passenger rear..

dont all 4 wheels have pad wear sensors? If not, what is that little black sensor wire going from my brakes to the inside wheelwell that I can unplug and plug and connects to my brakepad?

maybe im just backasswards?

Ah you said it, not I.
Each wheel has an ABS sensor.
Only 2 brake pad sensors.

+1

4 ABS sensors (each wheel)
2 Pad wear sensors (driver front, passenger rear)

Rear ABS sensors should come out with a gentle prying, fronts will more than likely break and/or become destroyed trying to remove them. Your best bet trying to remove the front ABS sensors is to remove the calipers and brake rotors, remove the hub nut dust cap, remove the hub nut, remove the wheel bearing/hub, remove brake dust shield, remove ABS sensor allen bolt, place a deep set socket over the end of the sensor and carefully tap it back through the kingpin/spindle. Chances are you'll still end up destroying them, so be prepared to purchase new ones.

Make that 3 ABS sensors, 1 on rear diff, one on each front wheel. At least thats whats on my 95....

Pad wear sensor are a visual inspect you don't need a ohm meter, if the little metal loop is worn through its shot.
