I'm downloading the install instructions now, the transfer is slllloooowwww. It looks like it's got potential to me. One question I have that's unanswered is what transmission would you use? Maybe the install instructions will tell me. Before I dropped that kind of cash, I think I'd travel up there to see his install.

This will most likely screw up the handling of your car, but it'll definatley be a torque monster.

Go now!!! I'll wait. Take some pictures ask for a drive and give him the link to 318ti.org. So he can show off and we can speak to him and perhaps buy his kit. This is a sacrilege of the ti I can live with.

this has been linked to before and somewhat discussed. the corvette engine is close in weight to the bmw I6 and he used a GM trans if memory serves.

hellrot332ti is putting an LS1 in over winter I think. He should have a ton of info about it. There was a thread in bf.c about the V-8 swap too. There are quite a few advantages to doing it if you can handle the fact that a BMW is powered by a chevy motor.

To solve this problem you get a custom made carbon fiber engine cover that says bmw. When people ask you about it say it's a prototype and that you work for bmw engineering or something..

That would be amazing. Even a NA modded LS1 could be pushed into outrageously low 1/4 mile times for the price of a full M3 swap. It would be fearsome, and beyond the scope of all but the most highly modded M3 turbo set up.

Nash was/is a member of this forum. It uses a T56 transmission, IIRC.
