If your saying its turning over then starting then dies its not your starter. dont pull it if you dont have to.
I think i saw that you bump started it and same end result as the car dies. Thats not a starter issue. I will also say that im sure its not a relay. I dont think i have ever seen a relay go bad. but for ease of mind change them out but dont bother with the starter if it turns over.
Another thing. I didnt read the hole thread. Were or who did you get the engine from? was it out of the car when you got it?> Are you sure the person gave you the right DME? if you have everything hooked up right and all the "correct parts" it should start but if you dont have the "correct parts" then no start. Engine is only air, fuel, spark so all the other is electrical. dme, ews2 and harness.
sorry for the long post

Ced I know you hate hearing this, but I really think you should get it aligned. I don't think it would cost that much, why not just get a quote from a few dealerships to see?

I really need to take a good vid like Blubimma, too bad I don't have a camera. What I'm saying is that the starter only makes spins and makes noise when I tap the solenoid with an open positive wire (called bypass I guess), the starter just spins and makes the noise, but the motor doesn't turn over. When i do this, the fan spins, which I guess is a good sign. I am positive the seller gave me everything correct. He is a vendor on bfc and he usually has about 5 motors for sale at a time. He conducts a shop in Connecticut. The motor clunks over when we push start but it clunks off within a millisecond. It never really does start and run.

I really am considering it, and I've been talking with a buddy of mine who is a tech there. I'll let him know tonight that I'm serious.

Checked grounds, even added one, Dahamler and I checked continuity within all the power wires and they all checked out.

Concluding statement: FML...

well man every one makes mistakes and im going to bet he did. also i had a bad ground going to my starter and it did the same thing. no start but it had the clicking but i could also bump start it and it would run. i would say check ground and power wires to the starter they might be backwards and also look into ews alignment. That should run around 150 but maybe more or maybe less if you know someone.

so I'm going to try and get the EWS aligned.

I use the M52 DME, and the old 318 EWS II module, and old 318 key/chip?

A tech told me that its M52 DME and and the M52 EWS II, so I'm confused.

Use all of the M52 stuff, atleast this way you can sell your 318ti stuff as a matching set.

If you're gonna get it aligned, you might as well align the new setup. We already know the 318ti stuff was aligned. Either way should work. Bring the 318ti chip and EWS module with you, just incase the M52 stuff won't align. They shouldn't charge you extra if they can't get one to work and have to program the other.
