Default Newest enthusiast!

Hey all. My name is Alec and I just turned 16 (nov.11) and I'll be picking up a 96 ti. All m technic, super exited. I have some major plans for it over the next 2 years. A little on what my original plans were for my car. Well I am a huge BMW lover and always has been. my brother in law (he's pretty much my brother) got me Into bmws when I was super young. I remember his fully built 540, had everything possible done to it besides s/c. Just a sick car, slammed on the ground with style 19's, was just my dream car back then. After that, he went to a 2003 estoril blue m3 (6 speed, that's all we drive in my family) and he had done some parts to that, I just fell in love with it. After that, he bought a 2003 carbon black m5 and did exhaust and lowered and such. Bought his wife (my sister) a 330 and did some nice cosmetic mods, and then bought her a 2004 estoril blue 4.6 x5. After that, he bought a 2008 dinan'ed tuned 335, dropped on hamman pg3's. After that, he bought a 2008 sapphire black on black m6 with a 6 speed manual and had Rpi stage 2 and that thing was outta control. He also had a sapphire black on black 2005 e53 x5 4.8is with full dinan as his DD. Now he also has a 2011 black sapphire special ordered 550i with a 6 speed. Well, sorry about that huge story on the BMW's in my family. I was supposed to have an alpine white m3 in my drive way on my birthday as a gift from my brother in law but my grades weren't up to standards so my mom said no. So now my bro and I have talked them into a 318ti and we are super exited!! Let's just say it's gonne be a m3 compact before to long. I plan to have a build thread soon enough!! Just gotta make some money. Anyways. I have been following this forum for a while and has a bunch of great info and I'm looking forward to getting to know you all! Sorry for being exited and going on and on in my first thread lol. See you around!

Alec

Be sure to join the BMW CCA. The local chapter is very active.
Use the BMW CCA banner above.

welcome, at 16 I think an M3 would be too much power anyway, the ti's a much better choice as a first car, sounds like you've got a pretty knowledgeable person in the family you can go to too

You''ll put your eye out. Seriously though the ti is a better choice for a first car. There doesn't ever seem to be a shortage of crashed m3's for sale on Craigs list or the papers. I do not have one, but expect that level of power and handling leads people to overconfidence and an overestimation of their driving abilities. It took me ten years of driving and 3 days of a driving course/driving techniques course on a track to realize what a crappy driver I was.
