ASC Removal

I spent the last hour searching and reading and I cannot figure out what exactly the ASC removal does, or if it is even applicable to the M44. If there is a link somewhere could you please post it up, thanks.

ASC is Automatic Stability Control, or traction control. there is no reason to remove it, just turn it off when you want to have some fun or any time you are in a DRIFT Competition. It really sucks when you halfway thur your lap and realize you forgot to turn it off and you left the A/C on.

okay I may have mixed the numbers up, it's the ASC or ACS Throttle body. I've seen a few threads over at bimmerforums about it, but couldn't find any real information.

the ASC VALVE as it is called closes to limit the amout of air to control wheel spin. if you take it off the the traction control light will stay on. the computer cycles the valve every time you turn the key on to check it.

so basically it's just for people to lazy to turn the switch off. Alright, I was just wondering since I kept reading about it but could never find any actual information on it. Thanks.

There's another reason to remove it as well, but I don't know if it applies to the m42/44

Many 6-cylinder guys will remove the throttle body when they upgrade the intake system (not just with a cold air intake, but a bigger HFM). When you make all the rest of the pipes and sensors in the intake wider, the ASC throttle body become the "bottleneck" of the intake. Therefore, removing it helps your expensive HFM upgrade do what its supposed to--allow more air into the engine.
