Posts: 3,156 | Well, you are right; however when there is no reply, and no request for the OP to have the thread removed, threads like this continue to clutter the site, and eat up our band width. It will be closed, deleted and a post will be placed reminding all members to keep up with their want and for sale ads. What if he still needed it? The idea is for us to help each other out, not bash each other. Nice one. | | | 03-03-2009, 02:40 PM | #11 | Member Join Date: Mar 2007 Location: Elm Grove Farm, NC Posts: 32 | Quote: Originally Posted by J!m Well, you are right; however when there is no reply, and no request for the OP to have the thread removed, threads like this continue to clutter the site, and eat up our band width. I also don't see the need to close and delete this post, and members should be able to handle monitoring their ads. If I made a post like this and didn't get any replies after 1.5 years, I'd assume that it was far enough down the line that it was doing no harm. If he still needed it then you would have saved the day for him, I guess. I wasn't bashing anyone, just pointing out that the thread is old as dirt and that the OP probably either (a) found what he needed or (b) didn't need it anymore. This thread is a PERFECT example of something probably best handled via PM (to the OP) rather than a reply to the thread. Posts: 3,156 | There may be some changes to the for sale and WTB ads on here. You sem to have missed a very important point- There IS harm in letting it sit forever in there... It eats up band width. So, I have asked for a policy change. It may be as simple as ads will 'expire' after so much inactivity, the OP will get an e-mail alert every week to check his post, or possily points against a member if he doesn't keep up his for sale and WTB posts. Thanks for making it clear for me. | | | 03-03-2009, 04:01 PM | #13 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2007 Location: Elizabeth City, NC Posts: 3,877 | Quote: Originally Posted by J!m It may be as simple as ads will 'expire' after so much inactivity, the OP will get an e-mail alert every week to check his post, or possily points against a member if he doesn't keep up his for sale and WTB posts. | I think this is a great idea. Also, I was just joking around earlier J!m, I forgot to use a smiley. __________________ ~Dave~ 98 328ti Morea Grun slicktop 11 128i space gray slicktop 13 JGC WK2 Deep Cherry Search | RealOEM | | | 03-03-2009, 04:16 PM | #14 | Moderator Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Bouncing off the rev limiter in CT!
