Default Newbie, chance to pick up 98 318ti, front end damage, need advice

Hey guys, let me introduce my self, my name is Jason my daily driver is a 09 BMW 135i running JB3( some of you know what is it I'm sure). Anyways, I have the chance to pick up a 98 318ti, single owner 25k miles, automatic( i'm not crazy about that at all) with some slight front end damage for about $2k. I haven't gone to take a look at the car in person yet but wanted to survey some 318ti experts on the damage. I'll attatch a few pics, I've also found a 93 328i with a decent front end for $250! To my knowledge a lot of the parts will be interchangable. Let me know what you guys think, any hidden damage or weird parts under the damaged area I should look out for. Welcome to the site.

What kind of accident gets damage like that?

Weird to be dented on both sides that way.

Do the mechanical parts seem okay?

There are people on this site who can tell you the interchangeability better than I can.

looks like it got pinched between two large trucks, and everything from the a-pillar forward is interchangeable with an E36 sedan

Looks like as long as the frame rails aren't bent, it'd be an easy day of swapping parts over from a SEDAN, not a coupe

For $2k, If it were by me I'd jump right on it. I know being in Hawaii is the cause, but that's LOW miles

I would jump on it. Pauly is right the, from the A-pillars forward is all sedan. If I were you I would go see the car in person and try to look under the hood. If the frame is ok it should be easy. I have had front end damage before and I fixed everything for less than 600.

if that was a head on frame is bent, no doubt. If it was pinched....questionable. Take it to a frame shop and get it measured before you even think about buying it.
