Default Sqeeky door hinge

Does anyone know how to lubricate the door hinges so they will stop squeeking. I have tried wd40 and it dosn't work. I have also tryed white litheum spray. What is the best way to get some lubrication on the hinges. This is driving me crazy.

My right door was squeaking about 4 years ago and I used some 10w40 motor oil in an oil can. I soaked the hinges and opened and closed the door until it was gone. I think the door was squeaking because no one had driven the car for some time and even the door handles would stick open then.

I used silicone oil spray from Autozone (yellow can) and it stopped squeaking.

dont use wd40, its silicone / pfte based and will make the squeeking worse!

use vaseline instead, it will also keep the rubbers in better condition than wd40 would

Thumbs up

crc power lube. My buddy's a mechanic at a honda dealership and he turned me on to it. It stopped the squeaks in my doors real quick.

If you are going to take the hinge pins out replace with new ones.

Could it be that the hinge pins are worn? Does the door fit well when it closes?

It is a pain to replace hinge pins.

Good luck

On most cars,,,Your supposed to use a needle fitting on a grease gun through the holes in the hinges. I need to go see if the 318 has them....
Anybody notice? Its cold outside and the wife drove the TI to work....

The squeek was coming from the door stay. A little wd40 took care of it.

WD40 will only work for so long (it is not a lubricant). Try Teflon spray white grease.

WD40 stands for "Water Displacement #40," the 40 meaning there were 39 test versions previous. That's why it's not a good lubricant.

In 166k miles, 10 years, my doors have squeaked once. A proper lubricant will take care of it for much longer.

That's the main reason I converted mine to a 5-speed, wife can't drive mine anymore

If the hinge is apart, wheelbearing grease.
