I soaked the hinges and opened and closed the door until it was gone. I think the door was squeaking because no one had driven the car for some time and even the door handles would stick open then. __________________ 318ti, sport, hellrot, 05/95 Munich, Germany | | | 01-07-2007, 03:53 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2006 Location: Central NJ Posts: 2,440 | I used silicone oil spray from Autozone (yellow can) and it stopped squeaking. | | | 01-07-2007, 05:47 PM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2006 Location: Land of the Vikings Posts: 2,700 | dont use wd40, its silicone / pfte based and will make the squeeking worse! use vaseline instead, it will also keep the rubbers in better condition than wd40 would __________________ Vin Number decode and Retrofit Pdfs Available Free ! Could it be that the hinge pins are worn? Does the door fit well when it closes? It is a pain to replace hinge pins. Good luck __________________ 318ti, sport, hellrot, 05/95 Munich, Germany | | | 01-10-2007, 04:48 PM | #10 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2005 Location: Portland Or Posts: 2,666 | On most cars,,,Your supposed to use a needle fitting on a grease gun through the holes in the hinges. I need to go see if the 318 has them.... Anybody notice? Its cold outside and the wife drove the TI to work.... A little wd40 took care of it. | | | 01-19-2007, 06:46 AM | #12 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: state college, pa Posts: 3,431 | WD40 will only work for so long (it is not a lubricant). Try Teflon spray white grease. __________________ I scream, you scream, we all scream for ZOMBIES. | | | 01-19-2007, 03:30 PM | #13 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2007 Location: Ireland Posts: 382 | [QUOTE=Mallard;101847]dont use wd40, its silicone / pfte based and will make the squeeking worse! That's why it's not a good lubricant. In 166k miles, 10 years, my doors have squeaked once. A proper lubricant will take care of it for much longer. __________________ I scream, you scream, we all scream for ZOMBIES. | | | 01-19-2007, 09:48 PM | #15 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2006 Location: Cincinnati Posts: 890 | Quote: Originally Posted by pdxmotorhead .... and the wife drove the TI to work....
