Default Replacement Spare Tire.

Hello

My spare is ruined from deflating and having it sit behind my modified diff. I tried to order a new one, no luck. My question is, what size tire and rim that is available today is a good substitute? I'm talking about a donut, not a full size spare.

Thanks
Eric

Hello

My spare says 125/90/15. Spoke with Tire Rack, they don't carry that size. Even BMW can't get it. Any alternate sizes that fit the lug pattern and circumference requirements.

Thanks
Eric

It would probably be easier to find a whole used spare wheel/tire that is in better condition rather than trying to find a tire for it.

I don't care if I buy a wheel with tire or just tire. Just need something that fits.

Continental T125/90R15 are out of production since 2010 and all of them have now been sold out of the system. Continental found the last few in an Ohio warehouse in 2013 and I got one of them for $140. I have my old one for sale:

2002 Z3 came with a 125/90-16 space saver spare. You can still get that size tire at tirerack, it has the correct overall diameter (24.9") for the 318ti. Looks like you can still order the wheel from a BMW dealer.

I don't think L84THSKY wants a 125/90-16 for his '98 BMW 318ti Sport.

He asked several times for a substitute wheel/tire combo that is available new today. I merely provided an OE option.

Plus even if he doesn't want it someone else might search for the answer and could use that information in the future.

Good luck selling your 17 year old tire.

The OE for his 1998 is 125/90-15. Will a 125/90-16 work? Will he need to get a new 16" rim?
Thanks for the well wishes on selling the old tire. I wondered if I should have gotten it, after being unable to tell the difference between old and new.

The overall diameter of the tire itself will be 1 inch greater, so will it still fit in the spare tire carrier?

And what will the extra diameter do running on the car? Might it harm the differential?
