Exclamation Instrument cluster malfunction after swap

Hey,
Few days ago I have swapped the engine in my late 99' E36 Compact. The orginal engine was M43TUB19 which has been swapped to (ofc) M44B19
However the mechanic wasn't able to get the instrument cluster to be fully functional. In the orginal (99') cluster the tachometer is not working anymore as well as the temperature gauge. Because of that he has mounted the older instrument cluster into my car that was working with M44 engine before. The tahometer is functional now but the ASC, ABS and AIRBAG lights never appear (even during the startup of the engine or when holding down ASC button).

The reason for that is probably the difference in construction of both instrument clusters. In my old (99') cluster, the tahometer was controlled by CAN bus while in M44 engine its controlled directly from ECU, on the other hand probably because my compact is so "new" the airbag and asc module is E46 type and they somehow can't communicate with older type of instrument cluster.

Have someone found any solution to that problem? I have both instrument clusters..

Some update:

I was trying to get the temperature sensor to work with the "E46 type" cluster, however even pulling out the cable from temperature sensor causes the gauge to get into "hot" position, installing resistor does not help either. I have tried 56k ohm and it still gets into "hot" position same goes for just closing the circut with screwdriver. On the old (95') instrument cluster closing the circut does not make gauge go into "hot" position. Resistors are also not working. The gauge is all the time in "cold" position. I am running out of ideas, looks like every E36 compact produced 99-00 with M43TU engine is just using E46 electronics that is not compatibile with M44/42 engines. After plugging in the computer, the ASC driver is reporting CAN bus error so my ASC is not working either.

Final update:
I got the 99' "E46 type" instrument cluster to work with analog temperature and tachometer signal! All I had to do is to code it using NCS-expert and NCS-Dummy tool. The cluster electronic allows to change type of signals from CAN-bus to konventionell - normal, both for temperature signal and for taho. Just connect your computer to OBD-1 port and program the CKMB ECU. If someone needs help with that just reply in this post.

I was swapping from M43TUB19 to M44B19 so 4->4 cylinders. I don't know what was your previous engine (if it was M44 or M43). In case it was M44 your best shot is getting cluster from 323ti compact. If your previous engine was M43TUB19 like mine then it's more complicated, I had a friend who did swap like this but managed only to make the temperature gauge work. Tachometer wasn't working for him even after re-programming. (If you put 323ti cluster in M43 compact the ASC/ABS/Airbag won't be displayed correctly anymore)

@rajai you need a six-cylinder cluster.

You can adjust yours for six cylinders but it is often easier to swap the cluster.

Some functions will not work properly but for the most part it will with a straight swap.

Wiring harness changes are needed for all functions to work.
