not for a ti but was wondering if anyone had any experience with this type of car... i'm really in the dark about them because there are very little BMWs in NE Pennsylvania. ANy info involving how long the engine will last and if there are any mechanical problems that might need to be addressed would be helpful. I checked out the car and it seems to be in great condition for holding 111k miles. I'm off to continue my search on the "internet"

Common issues (verify that these have been addressed)

Water pump (plastic impeller units will fail
Rear subframe (will eventually seperate)
Radiator (probably has been replaced by now)
automatic transmission (if equipped) will be getting close to the end of its life at 111,000.

The engine itself will last a really long time if taken care of. The cars do have some inherent electrical issues that can crop up. Check the wiring around the trunk seal.

If the 4 things above have been addressed, and the car drives without a noticable shimmy, then you are probably in good shape.

Otherwise, it is the same as any other used car, look for rust, signs of body repair, maintenance records, etc.

Definately check for rust. It seems to first appear particularly right where your rear license plates lights are as well as the bottoms of the doors. You also might want to peek at the very front edge of the hood. If possible, make sure the car was well-maintained during it's life, serviced at regular intervals. It's amazing how much money you can save down the road if you keep the car's service up to date! Good luck!
