You dont chip an m52, you use a shark injector to reprogram it.

You do if you have a OBD1 swap.

That thing will scream when you are done, trust me I know.

I have a set of m3 cams BTW if you are interested.

Just curious about going modded 2.8 vs. stock 3.2? What do you project your final hp/tq to be and what are you budgeting for cost? I'm asking because I weigh the same options. Your feedback is appreciated.

well stock m52 is 189hp (correct me if im wrong). and m50 manifold prob gives around 5-10hp. m3 cams do about 20-25hp gain and chip and underdrive pulleys help with maybe 20-25hp. lightweight flywheel helps tourque. plus intake n exhaust to help air flow faster. i think maybe 245 to the wheels. plus the weight of the ti with those mods would take a stock m3 (e36). def take out any vr6 vw n maybe r32's not sure. here my quote of prices so far:

motor 1,000
cams 275
exhaust 600
flywheel 500
under drive pulleys 125
chip 250
m50 manifold 125
intake (already have)
short shifter 85.00
thats about 2800$ but mind you ill be selling old motor, exhasut system and other lil things.

I think that you will have about 220 to the wheels and but you still would be able to beat an E36 M3. My ti had no problems running with E46 M3 and gave a couple of M6s trouble. I have a s52 obd 1 conversion with a chip LTW flywheel (F1 racing ebay) and M50 manifold. The car is fast!!!!

BTW I have the stock ratio Ti diff and I would not want anything higher.

I have the stock ti LSD (I forget the ratio) but my car ran at 3500 rpm at arount 75 mph. I never downshifted with on the highway to pass.

You can have the cams if you want them. I have an entire S52 minus the head if you need any other parts. The engine had spun bearings FYI. Just let me know if I can help with anything else.

If you want take a look at my swap thread. I need to update it more info and pics but I just snapped my secondary timing chain so I'm a little busy with the rebuild.

Oh I also have a Non vanso M50 with about 75k on it if anyone wants it. It needs the front timing case and sensors and a manifold.

Good luck with the swap!!!
