So i got a new windshield put in last friday. Yesterday was the 1st time i popped my hood since it was done and noticed that the windshield wiper is rubbing up against the hood. The paint has started to chip away where it rubs. At first i thought he put the wipers on the wrong side and then i looked at an old pic and noticed it was fine. I called them up and they told me to come in tomorrow morning and they'll look at it.

hi there. you need to adjust the position of your wiper arms. did you have the whole arm replaced recently? or take them off? it's really close fit. you will need to adjust them downwards to clear the hood correctly. | | | | | 08-19-2005, 10:28 PM | #3 | | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: state college, pa Posts: 3,431 |
there is a black plastic cap over the swivel of the wiper arm. comes off with a screwdriver. underneath is a 12mm (?) bolt used to adjust the arms.
the tip of the wiper blade should be at or just above the black part of the glass.

Well i figured since i didn't do this to the car and i know it was the people who installed it i'm having then look at it. I'm taking it there in the morning and hoping they will fix the problem & buy me touch up paint to fix the chip. i'm not sure if it's the same deal with the passenger side clicking, since the driver's side noise is caused by the wiper actually hitting the a-pillar.
usually the easiest way to check if you need adjustment is where the wipers sit at rest--it should be at or just under the black treatment on the glass.
i just realized that the click could also be caused by a loose nut (not bolt, sorry). it's real easy, just pop the cap off and take a gander. i have no idea on the torque setting, but i'd go hand-tight for this. | | | | |
