I had a very bad accident and here is the damage report. Broken scapula, broken clavicle in 3 places, 9 broken ribs (Yes 9) with 3 floating and 1 in my lung or a Pneumothora, Oh my god the chest tube was the most painful thing in my life. Destroyed shoulder and major muscle/nerve damage on that shoulder. Broken hand (No jacking off for 6 weeks - Haha). Bicep torn bad and elbow nerve damage. Now for the serious stuff... Major head injury to right frontal and middle lobe. It took me two weeks just to remember what happened and who family was. I was lucky and have made great progress over the past weeks learning to do just the basic functions of life. I figure just getting on here and typing is good progress.... Monday I go in for another round of orthopedic repairs. It's been pretty bad but I'm indestructible at 50 years old so I live on to enjoy another day. Be safe out there, enjoy life and live everyday like it's your last... | | | 05-13-2017, 07:14 PM | #2 | Member Join Date: Nov 2015 Location: missouri Posts: 99 | Sorry to hear this, good luck on recovery. I tried to make a right hand pass on a car with it's left turn signal on. About 20 feet from the car they decided to roll forward to the next block. I swerved into the curb, fell, then mowed 15ft of grass before I hit a tree, then the bike ran me over. I remember only seeing a bunch of people over me then nothing else. The report says I stood up and got back on the bike and rode off. I parked at the beach where the girl called rescue but I don't remember any of it. Woke up in the ER with my Mom holding my hand. I was in and out of it for a few weeks but I'm back and all good brain wise. My body is a different story....I took the worst injuries I've ever got in 50 years. I got all my teeth done this weekend (over $2000) and tomorrow I go in to get all my broken bones set, wired, screwed whatever it takes to make me whole again. Check out this dumb $hit. I was on OXY's and Diladuded my first day out of the hospital and totally messed that up. Next thing I know I'm back in the hospital thinking my Mom is my wife and my son is hiding in the hallway...Since then I've only been on over the counter BC powder and Advil. Total BitCh with the pain but obviously I can't be trusted around the SCH II drugs. Hopefully tomorrow they can put me back together and I will be good in 2.5 months...Thanks for your concern, JohnBoy Quote: Originally Posted by J!m What happened John? I go in to get it all fixed in the next 4 weeks then I should be like new with no major handicaps. Man I'm so lucky...First my son was not on the bike when I played crash dummy and I did not hit the tree head first. Done with the bike for a while so I'm looking for a E36 M44 BMW. I miss my old car bad and want another, will be stock except small things like Blue light interior and rims and such. ... | | | 05-15-2017, 09:54 PM | #11 | Moderator Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Bouncing off the rev limiter in CT! Posts: 3,156 | Ya know, I was going to say: if you got hurt that bad, it had to be a girl or a bike. Unfortunately, it was both! You are lucky to be alive! I'm glad recovery is going well. It won't be long after getting another ti you'll be looking for an engine swap... S54 probably... but at least you'll have a roof and seat belt. | | | 05-15-2017, 11:30 PM | #12 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2007 Location: Gulfport, Florida Posts: 3,208 | Dead nutz on buddy. Girl and bike + beer is a accident waiting to happen. So happy to almost be done with all the broken bones and head brain is starting to be completely normal. When I hit the ground with my head I remember seeing sparks but that's imposibble since it was a grass hit... Every time I consider getting a bike I read stories like yours. As for seeing spark when I broke bones I also remember seeing what looked like yellow fireworks going off inside eye. | | | 05-16-2017, 02:33 AM | #14 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2007 Location: Gulfport, Florida Posts: 3,208 | Quote: Originally Posted by ZEK Glad you're alive and on the road to recovery. Dude I guess it does happen in the mind when you take a good hit... | | | 05-16-2017, 03:19 AM | #15 | Moderator Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Bouncing off the rev limiter in CT! Posts: 3,156 | Damn. Not much else to say! Maybe stick to four wheels for a while. I want to get another bike but with a little guy now there's no way the boss would approve that. I really want a Triumph Thruxton... | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
