I accidently hit the post a new topic button. | | | 02-01-2002, 01:01 PM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Westchester, NY Posts: 234 | Hey Alex any details on the car or pictures would help...the price sounds fair but I can't really make a judgement call like that without knowing more. | | | 02-01-2002, 03:56 PM | #4 | Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Saint Paul, MN, USA Posts: 47 | I have a 96 ti, Active package. It has been trouble-free, except for the gearbox. It required replacement at 60,000 miles because it was popping out of first gear under load. There was a BMW TSB about this, but it was not a covered repair. Bummer. You might want to really test drive this one thoroughly and look for that problem, though I think it is a rare one. Also, I know these M44 motors have been known to blow the rear main oil seal. Check for leaks there. And I know another ti owner whose water pump went at around 60k. Great cars though. I'd never have anything else. Good luck! | | | 02-03-2002, 03:59 AM | #5 | Junior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Harriman, TN Posts: 24 | Hey guys, I thought I'd chime in on this one. I got my '96 ti with almost 49k for around 11k. I haven't had any real problems with it except a water pump I had to replace and some belts that were wearing down. Other than that, mine's been real dependable. I drive it hard...I've put almost 30k on it in just under a year and it still runs like it did when I got it. So I'd have it checked out, and if you're mechanic gives it a clean bill of health I'd jump on it, but that's just my opinion. Good luck! ------------------ Why look like all my friends at high school and drive a civic, when I can beat them in my TI? | | | 05-10-2002, 03:56 AM | #6 | Junior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: san ramon, ca. 94583 Posts: 5 | Hey fellow 318ti owners. I just purchased a '96 with 88,000 on the clock for $6900.00 with auto tranny. It looks and runs great. It was in a rear end accident and repaired, apparently a good repair job. It's my fourth BMW (2002,320i,525i) It;s the closest thing to the 2002 with the updates. Wish me luck. | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
