Default another alarm question

I have a 98 2 button fob. It's been intermittent on the locking/unlocking. I've replaced the battery in fob. Was thinking of buying another OEM 2 button on Ebay. I'm not sure it that'll help or be a waste.

I have to walk around the car hitting the remote till it'll go one way or the other. There is no cherry spot I can find where it works all the time.

Is a new fob the answer?

Dont buy the ebay aftermarket ones they dont work. Sounds like the alarm antenna is bad. If its the later design you will have to replace the control module

Do you get any chirps from attempting the locking? I had an intermittent problem with the locking because the engine bay / hood sensor had not fully engaged ~ the alarm thought the hood was open. So on the passenger side fender there is a solenoid switch (in front of the pass side shock tower) that can be tweaked a little bit to make sure it engages, bend the spring up a little bit so the spring can fully depress the sensor switch. Maybe not related, but it may be able to help someone else in the future.

(yeah, I'm up late....)
