Default Car Alarm

Is anyone using this car alarm? Any thoughts or recommendations?

I was just discussing this alarm system on another thread. I have the complete alarm/remote locking/comfort locking system from this company, works great.

My recommendation, which of course isn't for everyone, is checking out this site. http://www.asianwolf.com/caralarms.htm
Out of all of the selections, I would pick the DEI Hornet, 2 way pager.... I have the predecessor to that model installed in my car... it has everything you'd want functionality-wise in a basic alarm system (such as you've shown in the link) but a heck of a lot more (for almost the same price if not cheaper). It adds remote start and vibration sensors (most BMW specific alarms trigger at open doors and/or breaking glass with a glass breaking frequency detector)... my alarm can be adjusted to be as sensitive as you want it to be... from going of at car passing by, to not going off when an F-16 takes off 500 feet away. Seriously... Last but not least, it is 2-way... so if somebody is messing with your car while you're in the house... it can let you know at the pager... in time for you to take your 45 and pop em' some.

For less than $200 dollars, that's what I would go for.

Did you do the install? Was it plug and play as they claim? How about the blank keys they include. Do you have to take them to the dealer to get them cut?

It sounds like a good deal. I'll check it out. Thanks for the suggestion.

It was plug and play, not hard, one hour. The keys are useless, you can't start your car with them, only open the doors.

That's what I thought. I don't need more keys to carry around. Thanks for the info.
