Lightbulb Roll up window with remote

Is it true that you can roll up the windows with remote key?
I tried to push the lock button twice and then... my alarm working instead!!

It is if you have an after market alarm like mine. But if I am correct, the car will allow rolling up the windows by turning the key and holding it in the lock position for a few seconds.

What alarm system do you have? I like the feature of having the windows and sunroof close, but standing there with your key in the door is kinda pointless (even though i use it all the time to close the sunroof).

What about a feature to open the windows and sunroof?

There is no feature to roll the windows down, just roll them up with the key in the drivers/passenger lock.

I have the BMWALARMS.COM system. It will roll up the windows and sunroof from the key FOB.

Later model BMW's do allow you to roll the windows up/down, lock/unlock, and also set the car to automatically vent the windows if the heat goes over a certain amount... My E39 does that.. I don't think the stock alarm on any E36 does that though.. They may have included it in the E46 like it is in the E39..

It wouldn't be difficult to tie an aftermarket alarm into the window regulators. Most of them have aux. functions.

Default Windows Won't Roll Up

My windows did roll when I used the remote, but since the fuel pump was changed it doesn't do it anymore. Is there any way I could trouble shoot this problem, and would an electrical diagram help me out at all?

my '97 ti with a stock BMW alarm shuts the windows and sunroof. i belive we looked into it a few years ago (either here or on the yahoo list(RIP)) and found that the part code on my controler box was different from the US one and it was no longer available.

Vent the windows? How does that work on your E39?

I know about the park ventilation feature but was not aware any BMW models would open the windows when the temperature rises above a certain value. I would think that could be kind of risky because of summer thunderstorms and theft.

The E36 provides only four that I know of over the IR remote control inputs:
  • lock
  • unlock
  • double lock (decouples locks from door handles)
  • comfort close (rolls up the windows and closes a newer sunroof)
To get the windows to go down (which I do with my ZZKE controller), you either have to do a little song and dance on a few other ZKE inputs, or insert some power electronics between it and the windows that drive them directly.

Is this thread still alive? Is there a way to activate the comfort features on the existing system via programming?

I don't know about the thread, but six years later, some of us are still alive.

What specifically do you want to do and what model do you have, including the car's original market, build month and build year?
