Im looking for a e36 BMW, my current two favourites are the 318is and the 318ti. What are Pros and Cons. Im leaning towards the the ti because it is a bit cheeper but seems to be just a good as the IS. Regardless of which car i buy i will be modifying it. I am looking for a post '95 car so it will have the M44. What gains can i expect from a cold air intake, powerchip ECU, headers, straight through exhaust, big throttle body, port and polish and lightened fly wheel? If the car has around 140bhp stock i was figuring after mods it should have about 180-190bhp. Am i on the right track? | | | 03-08-2006, 01:14 PM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2005 Location: Asheville NC Posts: 669 | the ti handles better than the is because the car is lighter. The wheels are more in the 4 corners of the car which help handling. those mods you have listed here won't give you 40-50 hp, the only thing besides a massive engine rebuild with performance parts would be to add FI to it. I'd think the mods you listed would only give you 10-15 hp. | | | 03-08-2006, 02:59 PM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2004 Location: Pennsylvania Posts: 218 | My sister has a '95 318is. Its a nice car, but feels much heavier and the ti is much more fun to drive. The 'is has a few more ammenities than the 'ti does though. | | | 03-09-2006, 09:01 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2006 Location: MN Posts: 155 | the IS comes with a bonus...it has a trunk __________________ live with boost | | | 03-09-2006, 09:09 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2004 Location: New Jersey Posts: 363 | I always felt I could fit more into the hatch of my TI than you'd be able to in a regular trunk, maybe it's the volume? Its lighter then the is and its more unique. Today was the first day ever that I saw another ti other than in pics. __________________ "Drive Fast and Take Chances" | | | 03-10-2006, 04:36 AM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2004 Location: Florida Posts: 1,595 | if your going to get an is then get a 325 or 328 if not get the ti. My guess is that if you angle it, that'd work. __________________ I scream, you scream, we all scream for ZOMBIES. | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
