It still runs really good and gets 28-30mpg but the clear coat is peeling off. Thank goodness it's white. I am picking up a Green 1998 with 155k miles with automatic transmission as a daily beater and some occasional hiking trips. Any maintenance tips on the automatic transmission? __________________ 1996 Ti 280k miles and still going.... 1993 964 - holding on to this one 2001 Burban, 240k miles 2018 Suburban Z71 | | | 07-13-2017, 12:23 PM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2010 Location: Horseheads, NY Posts: 259 | Yes, swap it for the 5 speed from your 96. You will be terribly disappointed with the auto after driving the 5 speed for so long. | | | 07-13-2017, 01:14 PM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2009 Location: Georgia Posts: 595 | I am getting tired of driving the manual. I guess getting older. (turned 60) I might give the 5-speed to my son if he wants it or just sell it. I like the little TI with the big space in the back with the back seats folded down. For $1200 I will not hesitate. __________________ 1996 Ti 280k miles and still going.... 1993 964 - holding on to this one 2001 Burban, 240k miles 2018 Suburban Z71 | | | 07-13-2017, 01:22 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2010 Location: Horseheads, NY Posts: 259 | I started out with an auto and then went to the 5 speed that my son & I use for autocross. I still love the 5 speed so much more than the auto but I see your point. I as well love the versatility of the hatch and fold down seats. I still use it to move stuff even though its a fully prepped autoX car. Good luck & enjoy! | | | 07-14-2017, 12:30 AM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2009 Location: Georgia Posts: 595 | I picked it up today. __________________ 1996 Ti 280k miles and still going.... 1993 964 - holding on to this one 2001 Burban, 240k miles 2018 Suburban Z71 Last edited by bazar01; 10-14-2017 at 09:16 PM. | | | 07-14-2017, 12:24 PM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2010 Location: Horseheads, NY Posts: 259 | Sweet! Pass window is not working. Headliner sagging. I will be busy. __________________ 1996 Ti 280k miles and still going.... 1993 964 - holding on to this one 2001 Burban, 240k miles 2018 Suburban Z71 | | | 07-14-2017, 01:29 PM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2010 Location: Horseheads, NY Posts: 259 | That's OK, all pretty easy stuff to do! | | | 07-14-2017, 02:11 PM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2009 Location: Georgia Posts: 595 | Easy stuffs I agree. __________________ 1996 Ti 280k miles and still going.... 1993 964 - holding on to this one 2001 Burban, 240k miles 2018 Suburban Z71 | | | 07-27-2017, 05:16 PM | #10 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2009 Location: Georgia Posts: 595 | Quote: Originally Posted by Endat On my e46 steptronic, a fluid and filter swap on the transmission did make it nicer.
