528i donor car

Hi so I am currently looking for a donor car for a m52 swap and recently found a cheap 1997 528i auto, would this work for a direct swap or would it not be worth the hassle? Main things I'm wondering would be if the wiring harness would be plug and play(which I'm assuming it won't be) and also if I would be able to swap the front subframe so I don't have to deal with finding an e36 oilpan or subframe. I also read that e39s have ews 3 where as the 318ti would have ews2? I searched around as much as I could prior to this so any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks
