I've decided to get serious with the rear end. I purchased a 99 model M3 euro spec diff and axles and thought I'd document the swap here. So far a have fabricated the front diff mount, so the diff bolts to subframe, rear diff mount is underway. Next step is to machine the ti hubs to accept the larger diameter M3 axles, will update pics as I progress | | | 08-16-2015, 06:10 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2007 Location: Fl Posts: 1,353 | Quote: Originally Posted by ads13x Hi guys, Been a while since a update, my 2jzgte 318ti has been destroying medium 188mm diffs (locked) and countless sets of axles. How much power are you putting down? __________________ SUPPORT 318ti.org! CLICK THE LINK ABOVE! The problem with z3M trailing arms etc is in Australia they are nearly impossible to get... I had been looking around for 12 months for a z3M rear end, but eventually gave up. I'm pretty capable and it won't be that hard to fabricate, and it will be strong | | | 08-16-2015, 09:58 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2007 Location: Fl Posts: 1,353 | Got it. Keep us updated. I'm looking forward to following the progress. Quote: Originally Posted by ads13x Putting down 620hp at the tyres 26psi. Does anyone know the diameter of the z3M axles? M3 euro has massive axles, the shaft is 38mm diameter, tapers down to 33mm diameter at the spline, also 31 spline axles (much like a ford 9") Of all the axles I've broken it snaps them clean of at the spline going into the hub. | | | 08-20-2015, 08:53 AM | #11 | Junior Member Join Date: Nov 2014 Location: Sydney, Australia Posts: 16 | Update Picked up my modified diff subframe from the powder coater this afternoon. I'm interested to see the body mount you come up with for the rear. Quote: Originally Posted by ads13x Picked up my modified diff subframe from the powder coater this afternoon.
